Stereotypes about botox

There is a lot of misinformation and stereotypes about botox out there. So, for first time botox users, this could be a bit nerve-wracking. We are here to debunk some of these myths so that you can feel more confidant heading to your botox session.

One misconception that we see a lot is that botox will completely change and “freeze” your face. The treated wrinkles relax and soften rather than "freeze" while the injected muscle is unable to contract. The myth is based on stereotypes about over-injected faces, but just like with most aesthetic procedures, the injector matters. It is essential to have a licensed and skilled injector who will make the correct recommendation of units to create a natural result.

Another misconception, or false expectation rather, is that botox can accomplish what a facelift, filler, or threads can. When it comes to laxity of the skin, botox will be ineffective in treating an area where the skin is loose. Although botox can still help with wrinkles in areas where there is laxity, clients need to have realistic expectations that botox won’t completely fix this.

Furthermore, a misconception that we have seen is that botox is a one time treatment. Although botox can last anywhere between 3-6 months depending on each case, it is a temporary treatment and not permanent. Keeping up with your botox can actually improve your results each time, especially if you have static lines that may need multiple sessions to be completely wrinkle free.

Here at Blur, we love breaking stereotypes and answering any questions or concerns that clients may have to ensure the clients feel comfortable and safe during their botox experience.
